How to set up auto-trading on Binance via API: a step-by-step guide

Auto-trading on Binance works through the API — a software “bridge” between the exchange and a trading bot. The key point is to set the key's permissions correctly, so the bot can trade but cannot withdraw your funds. Let's go step by step.

What an API key is and why it is safe

An API key is a “key + secret” pair that you create in your Binance settings and give to the bot. You set the key's permissions yourself. If you enable trading only and do not enable withdrawals, the bot can open and close trades but physically cannot send money anywhere. Your funds stay in your account.

Step 1. Create an API key on Binance

  1. Log in to your Binance account → Account → API Management.
  2. Create a new key (System generated) and give it a name.
  3. Complete verification (2FA / email).

Step 2. Set the key's permissions

  • Turn on Enable Futures (futures trading);
  • keep Enable Spot & Margin Trading if needed;
  • DO NOT turn on “Enable Withdrawals” (fund withdrawals);
  • if possible, set an IP restriction (whitelist the bot server's address) — this gives the key extra protection.

Step 3. Connect the bot

Copy the API Key and Secret Key and paste them into your trading bot. The Secret is shown only once when the key is created — save it right away. Once connected, the bot can analyze the market and trade on your behalf within the permissions you set.

Step 4. Start with a small amount

Do not connect your whole deposit at once. Start with a small amount or with signals mode, watch how the bot enters and exits, and only then increase the size. This is sensible risk management.

Common mistakes

  • Enabling withdrawal permissions — never do this.
  • Sharing the Secret Key in plain text with third parties.
  • Connecting all your capital at once without a test.
  • Not setting a stop-loss / risk limits.

CryptoLogix connects to Binance Futures exactly this way: a trading-only key with no withdrawal access, and you can start with signals. Connecting takes about 2 minutes.

FAQ

Can the bot withdraw my money?

No, as long as you did not enable the “Enable Withdrawals” permission when creating the API key. With trading-only permissions the bot opens and closes trades but cannot withdraw funds.

What if I lose the Secret Key?

The Secret is shown only once when the key is created. If you lose it, delete the key, create a new one and reconnect the bot.

Is an IP restriction required?

Not required, but recommended. Whitelisting the bot server's IP address makes the key useless to an attacker even if they get hold of it.
